2025 Year in Review: Stability, Innovation and Growth at Zebra Eclipse

January 5, 2026 by Andrew Leave a Comment

2025 has been a notoriously challenging year for the digital publishing sector. It was a year where search algorithms shifted dramatically, AI Overviews changed how audiences discover information, and the traditional “influencer” market faced a credibility crisis.

Despite this volatility, Zebra Eclipse has remained focused on stability, technical innovation, and delivering genuine value to our friends and partners. We have weathered the storm by rejecting the poorly applied labels often found in our industry. Instead, we operate as a hybrid: possessing the rigour of a publisher with the agility and engagement of an influencer.

We are pleased to report that this strategy has resulted in an all-time high for our affiliate revenue, with requests from merchants to join our programme reaching record levels.

Technical Evolution across the Network

Our primary focus this year was respecting our readers’ time and enhancing how they explore content.

At Geek Native, we introduced interactive topic exploration across tag, category, and author pages, along with an innovative content-sharing system. Content-wise, we maintained our commitment to the community by supporting indie roleplaying games announcements and securing over 20 exclusive news pieces and interviews. Our coverage of Tabletop Scotland 2025 set a new benchmark for the site.

At In Pure Spirit, we rolled out interactive mind map tags and “bottom line up first” summaries. This allows our audience to digest complex information quickly, improving on-page engagement metrics significantly.

Edinburgh Reviews had a standout year. We focused on speed and authority, becoming the first to review multiple venues, shows, and festival acts across the city. This effort was rewarded when the blog was formally added to Google News, significantly boosting our reach and organic visibility.

Authority and Reach

Authenticity remains our strongest asset. In 2025, Zebra Eclipse attained formal media accreditation for four major events:

  • The Edinburgh Fringe Festival
  • Comic Con Scotland
  • UK Games Expo
  • Tabletop Scotland

This on-the-ground access allows us to create original content that stands out against AI-generated summaries. Our social reach has reflected this quality, with individual content pieces on Pinterest, TikTok, Threads, and Bluesky surpassing 10k views organically.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We enter the new year with a clear view of the landscape. As other outlets struggle to adapt to the changing digital environment, we see further whitespace opening up for Zebra Eclipse. By balancing our technical SEO foundation with the authentic voice of a trusted influencer, we are uniquely positioned to partner with brands looking for stability and genuine engagement.

2025 was a busy year, and 2026 promises to be a great one.

How Zebra Eclipse conquered Edinburgh’s Festival season and why you should join us in 2026

August 27, 2025 by Andrew Leave a Comment

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a glorious, chaotic, and utterly unforgettable experience.

9 reviewers - 136 reviews

For (nearly) four weeks every August, the city transforms into the world’s largest stage, with thousands of performances vying for attention. For festival-goers, the sheer volume of choice can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. How do you find the hidden gems, the must-see shows, and the experiences that will stay with you long after the curtain falls?

This is where Zebra Eclipse comes in. In August 2025, this indie publisher undertook an ambitious mission: to create a comprehensive and insightful guide to the festival. Please allow us to be immodest! We succeeded spectacularly. With a team of nine reviewers, Zebra Eclipse published an incredible 136 reviews, covering everything from groundbreaking theatre and side-splitting comedy to mesmerising circus acts and delectable food and drink. We deployed a passionate and knowledgeable team that navigated the festival’s magnificent maze, offering readers a trusted compass to the very best of the Fringe.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Zebra Eclipse’s commitment to the arts and our deep understanding of the Edinburgh festival scene. Our coverage not only celebrated the diversity and creativity of the Fringe but also provided an invaluable service to audiences, helping them to make the most of their festival experience.

Now, imagine your brand or show being a part of this incredible journey. For the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Zebra Eclipse is offering a unique sponsorship opportunity. By partnering with us, your festival shows will be mentioned in the outro of each of our reviews, placing your story at the heart of the festival conversation.

This is more than just advertising; it’s a chance to align your show with a respected and influential voice in the arts community. You’ll gain direct access to a highly engaged and culturally savvy audience that is actively seeking recommendations and eager to discover new and exciting work. With Zebra Eclipse’s extensive reach and trusted reputation, your shows will be seen by thousands of potential ticket-buyers, giving you a powerful platform to stand out from the crowd.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a world of opportunity. By sponsoring Zebra Eclipse, you can ensure that your brand is not just a spectator but a celebrated participant in the world’s greatest arts festival.

To learn more about this exciting opportunity and discuss how we can collaborate in 2026, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Edinburgh Reviews a Proud Supporter of PBH’s Free Fringe

August 18, 2023 by Bronwen Winter Phoenix Leave a Comment

Edinburgh Reviews is proud to feature in the PBH’s Free Fringe ‘wee blue book’ this year – as it’s the first year our Edinburgh publication (for both locals and visitors to the city) has been media accredited.

And, with their new logo, now seems like a great time to raise awareness whilst also promoting a great, sustainable Edinburgh festival season with PBH’s Free Fringe.

Zebra Eclipse’s Creative Director (and Senior Editor at Edinburgh Reviews) Bronwen Winter Phoenix said:

I’m delighted to be able to support PBH’s Free Fringe with our ad this year, as it helps raise awareness of our brand whilst shouting ‘WE’RE HERE’! We’re really excited about what comes next for Edinburgh Reviews, so watch this space.

PBH’s Free Fringe is now in its 27th year. Its founder, Peter Buckley Hill, had this to say:

We’re happy to be supported by Edinburgh Reviews’ advertising, and by the advertising of many other Edinburgh businesses.  We want to be seen, not as August invaders, but as performers from all the world who provide something worthwhile to this unique city.

The Free Fringe helps make festival season sustainable, affordable and accessible for everyone to be able to go and see a show regardless of their budget.

Edinburgh Reviews founder Andrew (Girdy) Girdwood said:

Edinburgh Reviews paid for a half-page advert in the Free Fringe showing how Zebra Eclipse differs significantly from the usual influencer content play of ‘pay it and we’ll say it’.

The ad helped enable a cultural event in Edinburgh and put our brand and proposition in front of thousands of people looking for somewhere to go in the city.

Watch this space indeed.
