We are Andrew (Girdy) Girdwood and Bronwen Winter Phoenix (Birdy).

About Andrew
Andrew Girdwood established Zebra Eclipse in 2013 and was Media Innovations Director at Digitas. Digitas was, arguably, the world’s largest digital agency at the time. Hold fire! He’s not cut from the same cloth as the notorious Mad Men culture. Girdy is a geek; he ended up in that position by adopting digital marketing early and then through a series of agency mergers and acquisitions.
Girdy was fascinated by the rapid evolution of digital marketing, content, social networks and the roles of individuals and small businesses in influencing the distribution, buzz and drama on the web. At the same time, he was frustrated that brands – and even other marketers – would dismiss Facebook, websites, or YouTube content as being any form of publishing. So, he set up Zebra Eclipse.
Besides, Girdy needed a home for his growing collection of purely hobby blogs or digital experiments, and Zebra Eclipse was a handy vessel for that. Today, he occasionally writes about digital marketing on his blog and still has a day job in digital strategy.
Zebra Eclipse – the company, as it stands today – was really born in 2023 when Bronwen joined the fray and wanted to help Girdy take things to the next level.
About Bronwen
Bronwen Winter Phoenix has been many things; including a Galaxy Award-nominated fiction author, a local news reporter and entertainment journalist/interviewer (having worked in Los Angeles), a content marketing agency leader, a trained actor – and a businesswoman.
Many moons ago, she once sailed the seven internet seas as Capt. Feral Phoenix, and, along with a wild band of ferals, ran the ship known as Feral Army – a publication whose only weapons were words. She’s also written for the likes of The Guardian, Screenpicks, Screencrave, Secular View, and various Johnston Press publications, including the Herald & Post.
Nowadays, Bronwen spends most of her time as an artist and switches it up between that and her work at Zebra Eclipse, where she’s Senior Editor at our main publications; Geek Native, Edinburgh Reviews and In Pure Spirit.
Bronwen is Zebra Eclipse’s Creative Director, as well as being widely known as the John Wick of content; in that she’s extremely thorough, won’t stop until the job is done, but also isn’t impervious to being hit by the odd car.
First of her name, Bronwen also goes by ‘Stepmother of Dragons’, and (in summer) ‘The Sunburnt’. She’s making gravy without the lumps, has more dresses than sense.
The dazzle
Bronwen and Andrew are supported by a handpicked squad of trusted content creators, professionals, developers and journalists.
There’s also plenty of tea, coffee and business meetings in friendly Edinburgh cafes. Speaking of cafes, and speaking frankly, we find that not rocking up and acting like an influencer-cum-diva at a small business is a great way to recruit supporters to the dazzle (aka the herd).
The same is true for chatting in straightforward English with an artist trying to showcase a new comic book or just being up front, honest and not greedy with a deadline-threatened PR agency account manger.
